Veronica Sison was born and raised in the paddy fields of Central Luzon, Philippines. She is currently pursuing a PhD in the Department of South and Southeast Asian Studies at UC Berkeley, where her research focuses on the history of the Philippines and of Southeast Asia with an emphasis on knowledge production during the region’s Cold War era.
Before attending Berkeley, she studied History at the University of the Philippines, Baguio and Diliman campuses. Veronica has worked as a researcher for the Carlos Bulosan museum project of the Municipality of Binalonan, Pangasinan from 2018 to 2021, and as an overseas research assistant for the Reconceptualizing the Cold War Project: On-the-ground Experiences in Asia (under Prof. Masuda Hajimu of the National University of Singapore) in 2020. She was also a Cold War Archives Research (CWAR) Institute Fellow at the Wilson Center’s Public Policy and History Program (2021-2022). In her free time, Veronica enjoys biking, hiking, and taking long afternoon naps (in that order).
