Subhobroto Banerjee is a Ph.D. student at the Department of South and Southeast Asian Studies. His current research focuses on studying the multiplicity of forms of violence pervading the local level during the Mughals, as well as how the Mughal state conducted surveillance against these and negotiated through (or fought against) these at any given point of time.
Before joining UC Berkeley, he received his B.A. from Presidency University, Kolkata in History in 2021, and M.A. from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) in Medieval History in 2023. As a connoisseur of sleep and video games, he spends his free time either sleeping or gaming.
