Research Interests:
Dr. Barrios-Leblanc studies Philippine women’s literature and theater. Her monograph Mula sa mga Pakpak ng Entablado: Pagyapak at Paglipad ng Kababaihang Mandudula (From the Theater Wings: Flight and Grouding of Filipino Women Playwrights) was published by the University of Philippine Press in 1998. It received the UP Centennial Prize (Best 100 Books in 100 Years of Publishing) in 2005. She is currently working on Unexpected Radicals: Home, Work and Street Struggles in the works of Tagalog women writers, 1920-1945), focusing on poetry and fiction published in Liwayway and Taliba magazines. Additionally, she has published articles on street theater, three language textbooks, a dictionary, three poetry collections, a book of novelettes, and a book of her collected plays.
