Dr. Abhijeet Paul Receives Fulbright U.S. Scholar Award to India for Researching Kolkata’s Jute Culture and Technology and Teaching in West Bengal State University, India
The U.S. Department of State and the Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board are pleased to announce that Dr. Abhijeet Paul of the University of California, Berkeley has received a Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program award to India. Paul will research and teach at West Bengal State University, India as part of a project, titled “Broken but Not Useless: The Craft of Repair in Kolkata’s Jute Culture,” exploring the relationship between craft and industrial repair in Kolkata’s jute economy and community. The work broadly examines the relationship between the jute community and globalization and will be published as a monograph in 2023-24.
